We are situated 2 1/2 hours north of Dallas and one hour south of Oklahoma City. By plane we can get to the world from DFW. Local businesses are Raytheon, Republic Paper, and Goodyear. Cameron University has many events for the community throughout the year including the arts and sports. We also have a local artist community at Medicine Park where many from around our area will go to spend a day, a week, a month, or settle down and live there. There are little boutiques and working artists as well as a swimming area in the river. You can jump in during the swimming season, or just stroll and enjoy the amazing scenery on the river walk.

Are you into history? We have the museums for the local Native American tribes, as well as museums for the Buffalo Soldiers, Field Artillery, Cowboys, Chisholm Trail, and so much more. The history of this area is an integral part of the history of the nation. Learn of the Apache, Comanche, General Sherman, the Trail of Tears, and how they affected our lives.

On a lighter note, there is plenty of shopping at the downtown mall or some of the new large shopping areas in downtown and to the west side. If biking or hiking is your thing, check out the trails through parts of town, the three mile trail on post, or the numerous trails on the Wichita Mountain refuge where you can ride your bike through the wildlife area and maybe see a herd of buffalo. Don't miss the Easter pageant that has been produced since the early 1900's just before Easter every year at the Holy City in the refuge. If you miss the Easter time frame, visit the park and museum to see the story come to life of this historic pageant.
